This course examines emerging threats in substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and prevention within the evolving drug landscape. Participants will review current trends including fentanyl contamination of stimulants, counterfeit pills, novel synthetic opioids such as nitazenes, xylazine exposure, and high-potency cannabis products. The training also explores the clinical and system-level implications of these developments, including overdose risk, screening considerations, and access to care. Participants will learn how to adapt assessment practices, harm-reduction strategies, and treatment planning to better address the realities of the modern drug supply.
